Brush-drawn
ukiyo-e
paintings were popular in Kyoto and Osaka
in the Edo period. A new exhibition at the Ueno Royal Museum in
Tokyo presents brush-drawn ukiyo-e paintings from the collection
of Roger L. Weston of Chicago. The 129 pieces by 50 artists
include many of the best ukiyo-e paintings in existence today,
some of which are being shown publicly for the first time.
