Opened in 2007, the Grand Canyon Skywalk (
grandcanyonwest.
com
) is a glass-and-steel, horseshoe-shaped bridge that extends
20m from the canyon rim some 1,200m above the canyon floor.
The bridge is 3m wide and has glass walls to contain pedestrians.
The skywalk is located in an area called Grand Canyon West,
which is within the Hualapai Native American Reservation and is
owned and operated by the tribe. A stroll on the skywalk may
take your breath away, but rest assured it is strong enough to
support 822 people. Currently, only 120 people are allowed on
the skywalk at a time.
Opened in 2007, the Grand Canyon Skywalk juts out 20m from the canyon
rim.
