In addition to touring the exhibits of London’s
Tower Bridge, visitors can traverse the £1
million Tower Bridge Glass Floor
(
towerbridge.org.uk
) that has been installed
across the high-level walkways 42m above
the Thames. Soon after the bridge reopened in
2014, part of the walkway was shattered after
a beer bottle fell. The damage was superficial
as each walkway contains six 530kg glass
panels measuring 11×1.8m that are supported
b y a s t e e l f r amewo r k we i g h i n g
approximately 1,000kg. Visitors can
download the free Raise Tower Bridge app,
an augmented reality app that affords visitors
360-degree panoramic video of the bridge
being raised.
