S
teeped in ancient Roman
history, Bath’s mineral hot
springs have attracted health
and wellness seekers to this
destination in the southwest of
England for decades. And now the city’s
swimming pools and treatment rooms are
set to become even easier to reach with the
opening later this year of a high-speed
electric train service fromLondon.
When the Romans wanted to relax
and unwind, they went to soak in Bath’s
natural hot springs, creating a whole ritual
around the process of heating and cooling
the body and soaking in the mineral-rich
waters. Hundreds of years later, the desire
to get away from it all remains — several
Bath establishments have taken their cue
from this ancient civilization to offer
visitors a relaxing time out.
The old Roman baths are located below
ground level in the city of Bath. Visitors can
tour the museum but cannot enter the water.
