gratifying that all of our hard work to keep quality service and safety
as our top priorities is recognized. The SKYTRAX 5-Star Rating is
truly an award shared by every single EVA staff member and
employee. At the same time, this prestigious rating reminds us all that
we must never lose sight of our commitment to being the best or
falter in our quest to continually improve and innovate.”
SKYTRAX Chairman and CEO Edward Plaisted said, “EVA
Air is being certified as the eighth 5-star airline in the world, joining
an esteemed and exclusive group of the leading international carriers.
EVA passengers enjoy a high-quality product, supported by
outstanding 5-star staff service in both the airport and onboard
environments. The 5-star airline symbol is recognized throughout the
world by passengers, media, airlines and the travel industry as a
whole. We are trusting EVA and giving it a lot of responsibility to
maintain these high standards.”
To achieve five-star airline status, we present passengers
with the best quality possible and pay attention to the tiniest
details. For example, in Royal Laurel Class on long-haul flights
aboard Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, we provide sleepwear, down
comforters, and Rimowa overnight kits. We have also recently
introduced a bed-making service, where cabin crew members
will use 100% cotton mattresses to turn lie-flat seats into
comfortable beds. This type of service is usually available only in
first class cabins.
On behalf of the airline, EVA Air Chairman Steve Lin (sixth from right) accepted the 5-star rating from SKYTRAX Chairman and
CEO Edward Plaisted (sixth from left). Civil Aeronautics Administration Chief Secretary Yang Gwo-Feng (fifth from right) witnessed
the event alongside EVA Air President Derek Chen (fifth from left) along with EVA Air frontline personnel.

EVA Air provides a wide range of alcoholic beverages in
business class cabins. Various wines are offered as part of the
dining service, with cabin crew members giving an
overview of each wine, including appellation, vintage, and
taste characteristics, so that passengers can choose the
wine most appropriate for them.
When it comes to ground services, we understand the
difficulties less-traveled passengers might encounter at airports.
Therefore, we installed electronic screens at Taoyuan
International Airport to help passengers find the correct
check-in counters. At peak hours, crew members are
stationed at various locations in the departure level to
prevent passengers from losing their way in the airport.
To raise service standards to five-star level, EVA
Air conducted inspections of all areas of operation,
including airport facilities and cabin services. After
countless discussions and meetings, the company
made modifications and implemented necessary
training. In the area of passenger cabin service,
the airline put some 2,400 employees
through a total of nearly 30,000 hours of
training to raise standards to a world-
class level and take EVAAir to new
heights.
