Part of the Tate group, the Tate Modern along the
River Thames showcases contemporary art by
British and international artists dating from the late
19th century to today. Visit the new Switch House,
an understated pyramid-shaped extension made out
of 336,000 bricks. Currently on display are the
erotically charged watercolor paintings by 20th-
century Indian artist Bhupen Khakhar. His work
merged high- and low-brow and spoke volumes on
class and sexuality. The Georgia O’Keeffe
retrospective runs until the end of this month,
featuring the late American artist’s iconic modernist-
style paintings of magnified flowers and New
Mexico landscapes.

L
ondon is home to centuries of European art. It’s here
that you’ll find the masterpieces of Baroque and
impressionist painters. If your palate is more
contemporary, the city offers no shortage of pop art –
whether in a gallery or spray-painted on the streets of
Shoreditch.
