Such is the popularity of cherry blossom in Japan that it is
regarded by many as the country’s national flower. Around the
beginning of April every year, tens of thousands of overseas
tourists and an even greater number of Japanese head out to see
the famous cherry blossom trees with their stunning white and
pink flowers. Finding them is easy, as in Tokyo alone there are
dozens of parks where you can walk and surround yourself with
the beauty of these trees in full bloom. Ueno Park is one of the
busiest spots in the city, and with good reason, given that it’s
home to over 1,000 trees. Other sites, including Yoyogi Park and
the riverside Sumida Park, are also beautiful, and will be a little
less crowded.
