emperor penguins, the largest of the 17 penguin species, growing
up to 150cm tall. Visitors have the unique opportunity to camp
on the same sea ice where thousands of emperor penguins come
to raise their young. Up to 20 guests fly from Punta Arenas, Chile
to Union Glacier, Antarctica and then onward via ski aircraft to

rookery the penguins call home on Gould Bay, an ice-fronted
embayment formed by the Ronne Ice Shelf and the northern tip
of Berkner Island. Camping in harsh weather conditions in one of
the most remote places on Earth means travelers get a digital
detox. While guests must stay at least 5m away from wildlife,
they can observe and photograph 24 hours a day thanks to the
constant daylight from November to January, when trips are
offered.
